Resumes

A Resume is a word picture of you, one which must capture the interest of a potential employer. You will want to use it often in your job-search. The following are some ways you may use the resume:

A resume is a personal advertisement that tells:

  1. Who you are.
  2. What you would like to do (goal).
  3. What you know.
  4. What you have done.

Remember, it must sell as well as tell. A good resume will go a long way toward helping to make a good impression. A bad resume can seriously hurt the chances of an applicant who may seem desirable in every other way.

  • After filling out an application, attach your resume to it.
  • Mail your resume to potential employers with whom you have talked to or in answer to ads.
  • Give copies of your resume to your references. The resume will help these people write and speak positively about you.
  • Give copies of your resume to family members and friends whom you have asked to be on the lookout "for potential jobs."
